Birdeye vs Reply Desk for owner-run shops
Birdeye is a full customer-experience suite. Reply Desk does one thing: draft your Google review replies. Here is what each one costs and which shop each one fits.
Real drafts of your own reviews. No login. No card.
What Birdeye actually costs
Birdeye does not publish its prices. Its pricing page asks for your location count and routes you to a sales call. Third-party pricing trackers (CostBench, RepliFast, and buyer reports compiled through 2026) put the plans at roughly $299 a month per location for Starter, $349 for Growth, and $449 for Dominate, all on annual contracts. Your quote may differ. That is the honest state of the numbers: estimates, not a price list.
Two things in that sentence matter for a small shop. Per location means a second shop doubles the bill. Annual means you commit for a year before you know whether you use half the features.
What you get for it
Birdeye is a suite. Reviews, listings management, messaging, webchat, social scheduling, and surveys live in one dashboard. For a multi-location operation that needs all of that in one place, the bundle makes sense. That is a real product doing real work for real companies.
Reply Desk is not a suite. It does one job: I draft a reply to each new Google review as it comes in, in your voice. You post the ones you like. I never post anything myself, and I never need your Google login.
When Birdeye wins
Say it plainly. If you run five locations and your team actually uses listings sync, review requests, messaging, and the social tools, a suite at $299 a location is a reasonable buy, and Reply Desk is not the right product for you. We do not do listings. We do not do webchat. We do not do social. A shop that needs the bundle should buy the bundle.
When it does not
Most owner-run shops use one thing: the reviews. The listings page gets opened twice a year. The chatbot never gets configured. The survey module sits empty. At that point you are paying $299 a month, per location, on an annual contract, for a review reply tool with a lot of furniture around it.
Reply Desk is $149 a month. Signups through January 31, 2027 are $99 a month for the first 3 months with code REPLYDESK99, then $149 a month. One location, one job, no annual contract, and the first thing you get is free: 3 real drafts of your own reviews, written before you pay anything.
| Birdeye | Reply Desk | |
|---|---|---|

| Billing | Per location, annual contracts | Per shop, cancel any time |

| Who writes the replies | You do, in their dashboard, with AI help on higher tiers | Drafted for you in your voice; you approve and post |
| Try before paying | Sales call, then a trial | 3 free drafts of your actual reviews |
Is Birdeye overpriced?
Not for the buyer it is built for. A multi-location business that uses the listings, messaging, and review tools together gets a lot of software for the money. It is expensive for a one-shop owner who only needs review replies, because you pay for the whole suite either way.
Does Reply Desk replace Birdeye?
Only if the only Birdeye feature you use is review replies. If your team lives in the listings dashboard or the messaging tools, keep Birdeye. If the reviews are the whole reason you opened the account, Reply Desk does that one job at half the price with the writing done for you.
Who writes my replies with Reply Desk?
I do, from your public Google profile and the review itself, in plain owner language. You read 3 real drafts of your own reviews before you pay anything. You post the ones you like. Nothing is ever posted without your approval.
Can I cancel Reply Desk?
Any time. There is no annual contract and no setup fee. If the drafts stop being useful, you stop paying.
